La mamma

They have come
They are all here
As soon as they have heard this cry
She is going to die la mamma
They have come
They are all here
Even those coming from the very far Southern Italy
Even Giorgio, the blasted son
With plenty of gifts in his arms
All children play in silence
Around the bed or on the tiles
But their play is not important
It is like a last gift to
La mamma

One warm her up with kisses
One put her pillow a little higher
She is going to die la mamma
Saint Marie full of grace
Whose statue is on the square
Of course you strech out your arms to her
While singing the Ave Maria
Ave Maria
There are so much love and so many memories
around you la mamma
There are so many tears and so many smiles
th rough you la mamma

All men were on their way under hot sun
She is going to die la mamma
Should they drink cold the new wine
The good wine of the good climbing vine
Whereas scarfs and hats are piled up
one on top of the other on benches
It is amazing one does not feel sad
Near the large bed and love
There is even an uncle with his guitar
That is playing while caring of
La mamma

All women remember
The sad songs of watch evenings
She is going to die la mamma
Slowly, closed eyes sing
Just as one does rock a child
After a busy day
To drive him to smile while falling asleep
Ave Maria
There are so much love and so many memories
around you la mamma
There are so many tears and so many smiles
th rough you la mamma
That you will
never, never, never leave us
